Another finished quilt

Yes ladies and gentlemen (not sure if there is any gentlemen reading my blog but you never now) I have finished another quilt. This one was started early 2008, the quilt top was completed April 2009 and was quilted May 2009 it has been sitting folded since then waiting to have the binding attached. Well thanks to Joy's Finishing Stitches Challenge I have finally finished it. So introducing

Grandma's Magic Bag

The actual name of the pattern is Granny's Magic Bag but I decided to change it to Grandma's as that is what my Mum is to me two boys and also what I call my Dad's Mum. 

After I finished hand sewing the binding down I moved on to another new project :) this time the Charm Pack Quilt-along that I have mentioned previously. While watching the final of MasterChef last night I drew the diagonal lines on my 75 plain charm sq  and paired them up read to sew

and this morning I got a chance to sew them either side of the line to turn them into this

Now I just need to find some time to cut them apart and trim them back to 4.5" squared before Sunday.

Block of the Month quilt top completed

Still technically a Work in Progress as is still need to be quilted and binding done. I am calling it finished for now, it is to be professionaly quilted anyway, not game enough to try and quilt something this size myself.


While I am very please with it I am also very pleased to see the last of it. Now I can start the other 100 projects that I have on my list.

Last block done

The last block from Granny's Magic Bag Block of the Month is now completed, so I can start assembling them all together and add the boarders, then it is off to the quilters to work her magic.

Finally finished the stichery for this block so was able to put it together.

Almost there

Granny's Magic Bag - Block 4

I finally put all of this block together over the weekend.

I did all the checkerboard and sawtooth sections for Month 4 & 6 at the same time, along with applique sections. I just have to embroider the words for Month 6 and I will be able to assemble that one as well. I also managed to but out and iron down all the appliques for the remaining 3 months (7, 8 & 9)

This is the centre block for Granny's Magic Bag Block of the Month. I actually finished this awhile ago but keep forgetting to post it, so here it is.

Backpack for Baby

As part of the Granny's Magic Bag Block of the Month we are also make 4 projects that sort of link in, so far we have made a frog pyjama pillow, two eggs with legs to hang on a wall, and a backpack, so far I have sort of finished the pyjama pillow and tonight I finished the backpack. I am quite proud of it actually :p

Month 3 done

I have finally finished the third block of Granny's Magic Bag Block of the Month that I was talking about here.

Now I just have to finish off months 4 - 6 which are all in progress at different stages and start month 7 and I will be up to date with it.

Current Work in Progress

My list of projects to be completed is not what I am currently working on, it is what I have started at some stage and never finished, that being said I do intend to one day finish them all.

Currently I have two projects on the go, the first is a block of the month called Granny's Magic Bag. I am doing it as a class at my local quilt shop, Magic Patch Quilting in Tyabb. We are meant to be up to month 6, I have just started month 3, this one I will finish as it is for my beautiful boy to one day go on his big boy bed... Reckon I still have a year or two before that happens though.

I have changed the wording slightly by changing Granny to Grandma as that is what my mum is called.

As for my Baby Dear Jane quilt I will have to find an easy way to blog what I have done so far on that one, any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
